Guvna B |
Guvna B (born 13 June 1989) is a British urban contemporary gospel rapper and composer. He is also a long standing supporter of West Ham United Football Club.
He was born in Barking, London, England to parents originating from Accra, Ghana. He attended St Luke's Primary School and St. Edwards Church of England School. Guvna B graduated in 2011 with a BA in Business Management from the University of Hertfordshire.
The name is an acronym for God's Unique Vessel Now Assigned. As a Christian performing artist, Guvna aims to create inspiring music that is relevant to today's world.
At twenty years of age, Guvna B delivered two independent releases, and was featured on an award winning album by G Force entitled 'Destroy & Rebuild'. He reached the number one slot on MySpace charts for Gospel & Christian rap in July 2009.
The year 2009 saw Guvna's musical activities and achievements include:
- Gospel Music Award "Best Gospel Artist" 2009
- Joins Black Grape Management artist roster
- Sold out stalls of the Hackney Empire with show "An Evening with Guvna B"
- Released DVD Guvna B Live at the Hackney Empire
- Supported Fred Hammond in Birmingham
- Won Urban Music Award "Best Gospel" Award 2009
- Supported Marvin Sapp at Birmingham concert
- Supported Kirk Franklin at London concert
- Headed a concert at the Jazz Café London
Guvna B started 2010 with his "NEXT TING 140" project he moved on to participate in T3M (The Three Musketeers) campaign which saw him come together with Faith Child and Victizzle to take gospel music mainstream as they performed at the Indig02 at the O2 Arena.
In August 2010 Guvna B played again at the O2 Arena supporting Eddie Kadi. He also performed at the annual Black Police Association "Celebration of Life" 2010 event at London's Royal Festival Hall in October.

Guvna B won Best Gospel Act in the 2010 MOBO Awards and collected his award at the ceremony on 20 October in Liverpool, which was televised live on BBC Three.
The year 2011 saw Guvna B appointed a Youth for Christ ambassador and an ambassador for the Terence Higgins Trust working with commitment to help promote and support the work and agenda of these organisations. Guvna B is also a celebrity ambassador for The Prince's Trust. He was invited to a Downing Street reception in April 2011 along with some of the UK's most noted Christian figures where he met and had opportunity to speak with the Prime Minister David Cameron.
The 2011 England riots saw some of the themes that Guvna B was keen to pursue with the Prime Minister come to pass. At the height of the troubles he released a specially recorded track called "Hometown Riots" calling for calm.
The musical highlights for Guvna B in 2011 included:
- being featured on soul legend Jocelyn Brown's single "Stand Up" from her album True Praises.
- a UK nationwide tour with Lethal B, Ghetts and LZ7
- the Scrapbook mixtape being downloaded over 30,000 times
- being nominated for "Best Mixtape of 2011" in the Official Mixtape Awards

And his latest album #Odd1Out was released on the 26th of May, 2013. The album had hit songs like "Say Cheese", "Send a Wave", "Big Boy Riddim" etc. His four-day Odd1Out tour in September around the Uk was a blast. He was also nominated for several awards like MOBO Best Gospl Act, GUBA awards, Best Artiste of the year, BEFFTA, UMA etc.
